Pizza Burritos Oven Baked (Printable version)

Cheesy pizza flavors wrapped in warm tortillas, oven baked or air fried until golden and crispy.

# What You'll Need:

→ Tortillas

01 - 4 large flour tortillas (10-12 inch diameter)

→ Pizza Filling

02 - 1 cup pizza sauce
03 - 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese (6 oz)
04 - ½ cup sliced pepperoni (optional, or substitute with mushrooms for vegetarian)
05 - ½ cup chopped bell peppers
06 - ¼ cup sliced black olives
07 - ¼ cup chopped red onion
08 - 1 teaspoon dried oregano
09 - ½ teaspoon garlic powder

→ Topping & Finishing

10 - Olive oil spray or 2 tablespoons olive oil for brushing
11 - ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
12 - Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

# Directions:

01 - Preheat oven to 400°F or preheat air fryer to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper if using the oven method.
02 - Lay flour tortillas flat on a clean work surface. Spread 2-3 tablespoons of pizza sauce in the center of each tortilla, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges clear of sauce.
03 - Distribute mozzarella cheese evenly among all tortillas. Top with pepperoni (or mushrooms), bell peppers, black olives, red onion, dried oregano, and garlic powder. Ensure even distribution for consistent flavor.
04 - Fold the left and right edges of each tortilla inward by about 1 inch. Starting from the bottom edge, roll up tightly burrito-style to completely enclose the filling. Press gently to seal.
05 - Lightly brush or spray the exterior of each burrito with olive oil. This coating promotes even browning and crispy texture during cooking.
06 - Arrange burritos seam-side down on prepared baking sheet for oven cooking, or place in air fryer basket without overcrowding. Cook in batches if necessary.
07 - Oven method: Bake for 18-20 minutes until golden brown and crisp. Air fryer method: Cook for 8-10 minutes, flipping burritos halfway through cooking time, until exterior is crisp and lightly browned.
08 - Remove from heat and let rest for 2 minutes. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves if desired. Serve immediately with extra pizza sauce or ranch dressing for dipping.

# Expert advice:

01 -
  • You get all the comfort of pizza without waiting for dough to rise or dealing with delivery times
  • These freeze beautifully and reheat like a dream for emergency weeknight dinners
02 -
  • Overfilling these will cause explosions in the oven, so resist the urge to stuff them like you are making a true burrito
  • The air fryer creates a much crispier exterior, so choose that method if you are craving maximum crunch
03 -
  • Use a pizza cutter to slice them diagonally after cooking for that authentic food truck presentation
  • Let them rest for five minutes before cutting so the cheese has time to set
